Full-time Research Positions

Research Staff Member

NEC Laboratories America is seeking researchers who are passionate about solving real world problems to join our Storage Systems Department in Princeton, NJ. The department engages in storage research with a focus on networked storage. To qualify for the position, candidates must have:

• PhD in Computer Science (or equivalent), with a strong publication record
• Experience with storage systems (file systems, object or content based storage systems, databases)
• Experience in designing, building, and evaluating distributed systems and protocols
• Knowledge of fault tolerance and availability techniques for local and wide area networked systems
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

The candidates must be proactive and assume leadership in proposing and executing innovative research projects, as well as in developing advanced prototypes leading to demonstration in an industry environment.

Experience in Cloud Computing or SaaS is a plus.

Postdoctoral Researcher

The Storage Systems Group invites applications from highly motivated and qualified researchers to fill a Post-Doctoral position at NEC Labs America in Princeton, New Jersey. The department engages in research in the areas of file and storage systems with a focus on distributed storage. Ongoing projects include de-duplicated storage, energy efficiency, and architectures using storage class memory. These projects actively pursue research contributions with publications in leading conferences, as well as technology transfer to NEC's business units.

Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Computer Science, or equivalent, and have a strong technical background in one or more of these areas, and excellent verbal and communication skills.
