Hiring Process

We’re glad you are interested in joining our Lab! We have outlined the few short steps you need to take to apply for positions at NECLA.

Regular Full-Time Research Positions


The first step is to access our Career page and search our job openings.  When you find a job you’d like to apply for, simply click Apply Now and complete our online application.  Be sure to attach your CV and research statement. 

Your application will be reviewed by the appropriate hiring team.  If your background is a good match for the position, you’ll be phone screened by someone (or a small team) from the group.  We’ll also request reference letters from at least two professional contacts you provide. 

If the phone screen goes well, you’ll be invited for an onsite interview.  Our interviews last a full day.  You’ll meet with an HR representative, NECLA’s president, give a talk about your research, and meet with members of the group including the hiring manager.  This may sound intense, and it is, but it provides both you and us the opportunity to really get to know each other and see if we’re a good fit.

After onsite interviews are complete, the hiring team meets to review candidates and determine who will be offered the opportunity to join the NECLA team.  The hiring manager or a team member will be in touch with you throughout the process to keep you informed of the status.

Intern Positions

Our intern hiring process is a bit more streamlined than for regular positions.  The first step is to access our Career page and search our intern openings.  When you find a position you’d like to apply for, simply click Apply Now and complete our online application.  Be sure to attach your CV. 

Your application will be reviewed by the appropriate hiring team.  If your background is a good match for the opening, you’ll be phone screened by someone (or a small team) from the group.

After phone screens are complete, the hiring team reviews candidates and determines who will be offered an internship.
