All Photonic Networks are communication systems that rely entirely on photons for data transport and switching without converting signals to electronics. NEC Labs America advances All Photonic Networks to achieve ultra-high bandwidth, low latency, and energy efficiency. These networks enable scalable infrastructure for AI, cloud services, and sensing. Research includes optical switching, amplification, and integration, aiming to deliver next-generation communication systems with global impact.
We experimentally demonstrate real time mode division multiplexing free space optical communication with commercial 400G open and disaggregated transponders. As proof of concept,using HG00, HG10, and HG01 modes, we transmit 1.2 Tb/s/l (3´1l´400Gb/s) error free.
