NEC Labs America Presents at ECOC 2026 in Málaga, Spain, September 20-24th

NEC Laboratories America is bringing a strong research presence to ECOC 2026, the European Conference on Optical Communications in Málaga, Spain. Researchers from the Optical Communications & Computing and Optical Sensing & Solutions departments will present papers, posters, and workshop talks covering underwater acoustic sensing, power-efficient submarine cable design, earthquake and tsunami monitoring through telecom fiber, and forward-transmission fiber sensing.

NEC Laboratories America (NECLA) was proud to join the European Conference on Optical Communication (ECOC 2025) in Copenhagen, Denmark, from September 28 to October 2. Our researchers presented cutting-edge work in distributed acoustic sensing, AI-driven fiber optics, and optical networking. From generative models for event classification to digital twins and entomological observations using telecom fibers, these sessions highlighted NECLA’s role in shaping the future of intelligent and resilient communication systems. In addition, NECLA’s Fatih Yaman co-organized a workshop on emerging frontiers in optical communication.

The purpose of the AAAI conference series was to promote research in AI and foster scientific exchange between researchers, practitioners, scientists, students, and engineers.
