Internships for Summer 2026 Are Now Closed

Intern Hiring Process

In an informal work environment, our interns collaborate directly with other researchers. Internships are full-time positions that generally last 10 to 12 weeks.

The first step to applying for an internship is to search our job openings.
When you find an opening you’d like to apply for, click Apply Now and complete our online application. Be sure to attach your CV.
Your application will be reviewed by the appropriate hiring team. If your background is a good match for the opening, you will be interviewed via phone by an individual or small group.
After all phone interviews have been conducted, the hiring team will review the candidates and determine who will be offered an internship.

Summer 2027 Applications Will Open This Fall

Our exciting internship opportunities for Summer 2026 are now closed, but applications for Summer 2027 will open this fall. We will be looking for students pursuing advanced degrees in Computer Science and Electrical Engineering. Internships are typically 3 months long during the summer. The benefits of working for us include the opportunity to quickly become part of a project team applying cutting-edge technology to industry-leading concepts.

Meet the NEC Labs America Intern Helping to Make Autonomous Vehicles Safer and More Secure

September 8, 2023

There’s much more to autonomous vehicle security than locking a car door. This summer, Kaiyuan Zhang, a 3rd-year computer science Ph.D. student at Purdue University, joined NEC Labs America’s popular intern program to help advance research around autonomous vehicle security. Each year, nearly 50 Ph.D. candidates join NEC Labs America’s innovative program, which centers on a collaborative environment where interns work directly with senior researchers and potential end-user customers.

Internship Benefits & Perks

Housing & Transportation Assistance

You will receive a lump-sum payment to offset the cost of local housing and transportation.

Flexible Hours

Although certain core hours may be required, many managers will allow their staff members to work flexibly to better accommodate their personal schedules.

Travel Reimbursement

You will receive a travel allowance for round-trip relocation expenses, if applicable.

Recreation

In addition to hosting picnics and holiday parties, we provide on-site fitness centers for employee use at both of our campuses. The Princeton campus also has tennis, basketball and sand volleyball courts.

Free Beverages & Snacks

We provide free coffee, espresso, soft drinks, juices and teas, as well as a selection of fresh fruit and other healthy snacks.

Holiday Pay

You will be paid for any designated company holidays occurring during your internship period.
