M. Samin Yasar
Integrated Systems
About
M. Samin Yasar is a Researcher in the Integrated Systems Department at NEC Laboratories America. He received his B.Sc. in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from BRAC University, and his M.S. and Ph.D. in Computer Engineering from the University of Virginia.
His research interests span Embodied AI, Dependable Systems, and Human-Robot Collaboration. Before joining NEC, Samin was a postdoctoral researcher at Rice University and an intern at Microsoft Research.
At NEC Labs America, Samin currently contributes to the Embodied AI initiative by developing self-improving vision‑language agents that diagnose and correct failures on the fly. Samin has published in leading robotics venues—including HRI, ICRA, IROS, AAMAS, THRI, and RAL—and regularly serves as reviewer and area chair for top-tier conferences and journals. His work integrates vision‑language modeling, symbolic reasoning, and real-world robotic execution to create adaptable, reliable embodied AI systems for both simulated benchmarks and hardware deployments.
