Traffic Detection involves the use of sensors, cameras, or other technologies to identify and monitor the presence and movement of vehicles or pedestrians on roads. This can include the detection of vehicles at intersections, on highways, or within specific zones. The data collected through traffic detection systems is often used for traffic management and control purposes.
We demonstrated for the first time that motor vehicle traffic and road capacity on multiple fiber routes can be monitored by using a distributed-fiber-optics-sensing system with a photonic switch on in-service telecom fiber cables.
