Ali AlShami NEC Laboratories America Ali AlShami is a Postdoctoral Scientist in the Media Analytics Department at NEC Laboratories America, where he conducts research in computer vision, deep learning, and multimodal artificial intelligence. Dr. AlShami earned his Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs, after completing his M.S. in Computer Science at the same institution, where his graduate research focused on computer vision, deep learning, and predictive modeling for video understanding and trajectory analysis.

His work focuses on understanding complex visual data, including human motion and behavior in videos, and on developing AI systems that can reason about dynamic environments and real-world scenes. In particular, his research focuses on perception and prediction problems for autonomous driving by leveraging recent advances in AI, computer vision, and deep learning, with a focus on foundation models to develop AI systems that are more robust, interpretable, and capable of operating in open and evolving environments.
