Coding Documentation refers to written descriptions of code structure, function behavior, and usage conventions intended to support understanding, maintenance, and reuse of software. In AI research, coding documentation is studied as an artifact that must be optimized not only for human readability but increasingly for consumption by autonomous coding agents and large language models. Research challenges include generating accurate, dependency-aware documentation at scale and ensuring it supports correct downstream code generation across programming languages.
