Computational Linguistics is an interdisciplinary field concerned with the computational modeling of human language, spanning phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics, and pragmatics. It draws on linguistics, computer science, and cognitive science to develop formal models and algorithms for language understanding and generation. Research areas include parsing, machine translation, discourse analysis, and language grounding. The field forms the theoretical foundation of modern natural language processing and large language model development.
