Resilient Optical Networks are fiber networks designed to keep delivering service when faults occur, such as fiber cuts, equipment failures, or disasters. Techniques include protection and restoration paths, rerouting traffic, redundancy, and early fault detection. Operators also use sensing and telemetry on installed fiber to spot disturbances, such as construction or severe weather, before they cause outages. The goal is high availability for cloud, mobile, and AI services.
