A Satellite Network is a communication system in which satellites, ground stations, and user terminals exchange data. Satellites can relay traffic between ground points or, with inter-satellite links, pass it through space. Networks use geostationary, medium, or low Earth orbit satellites, and each has different delay and coverage. Large low Earth orbit constellations offer low latency but have changing topology, which makes routing, handover, and management harder. Uses include broadband access and backhaul.

We propose a virtual session ID-based satellite handover scheme for LEO satellite networks. The proposed scheme can significantly reduce latency spikes and packet loss during handover, thus achieving seamless session-level continuity and improved communicationperformance.
